Level II: Intermediate Alpine Climbing Program

Step into the big snowy mountains in Level II: Intermediate Alpine Climbing.

This program will be offered four times, beginning in July 2026, at a 3 students : 1 instructor ratio, with class sizes up to 6 six students.

Members will have access to online learning videos, forum membership to ask us and other members questions.

This is an intensive program will run over the course of 5 days on Mount Baker:

  • 5 field days on Mount Baker, culminating with a summit attempt via the Coleman-Deming Route

  • One classroom session at our office in the Mountain Shop for all cohorts in the Intermediate Alpine Program for folks to meet other like minded climbers.

Skills covered in this course will be:

  • Basic Glaciology

  • Ice climbing

  • Snow Anchor Review

  • Roped Glacier Travel

  • Crevasse Rescue

  • Basic Avalanche Hazard Assessment

The partner component of this course is Level II: Intermediate Rock Climbing, which can be taken in sequence or parallel.
