Folkrm Ski Camp — Wing Ridge Yurt, Wallowa Mountains

Five days of powder, partnership, and exploration in Oregon’s backcountry

Join Trillium Alpine Guides and Folkrm Ski Poles for five unforgettable days of backcountry skiing and riding in the legendary Wallowa Mountains of Northeast Oregon. Based at the Wing Ridge Yurt, you will spend your days chasing untouched powder and your evenings savoring hearty, chef-inspired meals prepared by our guide staff.

With AMGA trained and certified ski guides managing avalanche hazard and leading you to the best snow each day, the Folkrm Ski Camp is your chance to fully immerse yourself in the backcountry far from lift lines and crowds. Ask any Oregonian about skiing in the Wallowas, and they will tell you to keep it secret. It is no wonder: the range is known for its deep snowfall, cold, light powder, and incredible variety of terrain. From wide open alpine bowls to perfectly spaced tree runs, Wing Ridge is the ultimate launching point for adventure. Every turn is earned, and every descent is better than the last.

Course Itinerary

Day 1 — Ski In and Snowpack Evaluation

The adventure begins in Joseph, Oregon, where we meet for introductions, gear checks, and a trip briefing. From the trailhead, we skin into the Wing Ridge Yurt, carrying in our gear and supplies for the week.
Once settled, we head into the field to evaluate the current snowpack and review safe travel protocols. This first day sets the tone for the week, allowing guides to assess conditions and plan objectives that will deliver the best snow and most rewarding descents in the days ahead.

Day 2

Our first full day of skiing focuses on exploration and building flow as a team. We head toward Phat Ridge, where glades and open slopes provide excellent options for fresh powder turns. Avalanche awareness and terrain assessment remain a focus as we establish safe travel habits and refine uphill techniques.

Day 3

With legs warmed up and conditions well understood, we set our sights on bigger terrain, as long as the snowpack allows. The bowls off of Wing Ridge offer a mix of above tree line alpine terrain and gladed chutes. Expect big vertical and plenty of opportunity to put efficient touring skills into practice.

Day 4

Today we will push further into the terrain to access hidden bowls that lie beyond what we skied the day prior. We’ll finish the day with a long descent back toward the yurt and a well-earned dinner beside the fire.

Day 5

Our final morning is dedicated to a few last powder laps in the trees near camp before packing up and making the ski out to the trailhead.
