Mixed Climbing Clinic

Mixed climbing is the ultimate combination of every climbing discipline, and it is tons of fun. Learn how to use and trust your ice tools and crampons on rock. This course is designed for rock climbers seeking a foundation in ice and mixed climbing, and for ice climbers who want to push their abilities into harder alpine climbing that involves mixed terrain.

Your guide will introduce you to the fundamentals of using an ice tool on rock. You will practice efficient movement over mixed terrain, learning how to traverse, match hands and feet, and get high on your tools before committing to the next move. Along the way, your guide will share strategies for managing the pump, including when and how to shake out before you get too fatigued to hang on.

By the end of the day, you will have top-roped a variety of mixed climbs and built real experience moving with tools and crampons on rock, a skill set that opens the door to bigger alpine objectives down the road.
