Max Test

Growing up outside Portland, Max was introduced to climbing, skateboarding, and snowboarding at a young age. Snowboarding quickly consumed his life as he pursued the freestyle approach, competing in halfpipe and boardercross competitions at a state level and slopestyle and rail jams at a national level. During those high school years it was also common to find Max and his crew snow camping around Mt. Hood, building backcountry jumps between comp schedules. He started splitboarding around this same time, with the opportunity to join the NWAC Youth Ambassador Program starting him on the path to avalanche education.

Max spent a few seasons in Utah after high school, and it was there he rediscovered climbing while developing a passion for splitboarding. Living out of a truck camper, he prioritized climbing trips to Indian Creek in the spring and fall, then chased snow all winter. He took his first AMGA course in 2024 and is currently pursuing the mountain guide track to be a resource for education in the local community and to have the training for personal expeditions with his crew. He's now based out of Bend, OR, and more recently has been investing his spring seasons in Alaska, seeking foot-powered freeride lines out of Haines.
